     Abner married Margaret Van Dyke, daughter of Col. John Van Dyke and Rebecca Van Dyke.1,3

     Abner died on 22 October 1817, at age 63; He was layed to rest in the churchyard of the Presbyterian Church, Pennington, New Jersey.2 He and Margaret Van Dyke were buried here. 'Abner Houghton, died October 22, 1817 aged 63.' 'Margaret Van Dyke, widow of Abner Houghton died at Trenton, N. J., January 19, 1838 aged 75 years.2'
