Jacob Van Dyke Gulick, son of Ralph Gulick and Eliza Bergen, was born on 7 August 1838.4,2 Jacob Van Dyke Gulick was educated at the Edgehill High School in his native town, and upon completion of his education engaged in business there during a long and active life, taking his part as a good citizen in the varied activities of the borough. After he obtained his majority he served the borough as a councilman for a number of terms but was never a seeker of political office. He was a valued director of the Princeton Bank and the Princeton Water Company, a clear-headed businessman and his advice in business matters was frequently sought by his friends and always conservatively given. He had a summer home at Long Branch, New Jersey and was the owner of considerable real estate in Princeton between 1856 and 1906.5
Jacob married Julia Downing, daughter of George Downing and Elizabeth Nash, on 27 November 1860.6,7,8
Jacob married Emily D. Reed on 1 July 1901.8
Jacob died on 9 May 1906, at age 67,8 and was buried at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Mercer, New Jersey.9

Major John Gulick1
M, b. 14 June 1758, d. 11 September 1828
John was Johannes (John) Gulick born in Six Mile Run, Somerset, New Jersey and was christened on 12 Nov 1758 in Six Mile Run. He married Margaret Van Dyke on 10 Nov 1780 in Somerset County. His wife was born on 2 Feb 1761 in Six Mile Run, New Jersey. She died on 3 May 1825.
John Gulick was often referred to as Major John Gulick. According to a contemporary, he was first a Private, then a Sergeant in the Revolutionary War and was made a Major in the Whiskey Rebellion. He and his son Jacob bought a mill in Kingston towards the close of the century.
According to the History of Rocky Hill, Kingston and Griggstown by Jeannette Muser, Major John Gulick and his brother Jacob rebuilt the mill owned by Jacob Skillman that was burned by the British in 1776. They also developed a section of the Old Post Road. He was also one owner of the Greenland-Brinson-Gulick house.2
