Susan Ann Raynor, wife of Isaac Mills Van Dyke
     Susan Ann Raynor, daughter of William Mott Raynor and Helen A. Van Riper, was born on 11 November 1846 at New York.1,2 Susan Ann Raynor was also known as Van Dyke.1

     Susan married Isaac Mills Van Dyke, son of Peter Albert Van Dyke and Ruth Hendrickson, on 9 May 1866, at New York.1

     Susan gave a farewell party for her son, Albert V. B., who was heading to Florida. At the party, she gave each of her six sons, and daughter, a check for $1000.00. on 12 January 1924.3

     Susan died on 12 March 1935, at Douglaston Section, Queens, Queens, New York, at age 88,1,4 and was buried at Flushing Cemetery, Flushing, Queens, New York.5

     Susan and Isaac appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 25 August 1870. Isaac was working as a blacksmith. Their children, William Raynor and Martin were listed as living with them.10

     Susan and Isaac appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 11 June 1880. At this census, Isaac was listed as a farmer. Their children, William Raynor, Martin, Thomas Cook, Albert Van Brunt and Isaac Francis were listed as living with them.11

     Susan and Isaac appeared on the 1892 New York Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 18 February 1892. Isaac Mills was listed as a farmer. Their children, Martin, Thomas Cook, Albert Van Brunt, Isaac Francis, Frank Edgar and Margaret Aletta were listed as living with them.12

     Susan and Isaac appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Queens, Queens, New York, at Whitestone Ave, enumerated June 1900 Isaac was listed as a farmer. They also had a Russian servant living with them and working as a farm laborer. Their children, Isaac Francis, Frank Edgar and Margaret Aletta were listed as living with them.13

     Susan and Isaac appeared on the 1915 New York Census of Bayside, Queens, New York, enumerated 1 June 1915. Isaac was working as a farmer. They also had a servant in the home. Their son, Frank Edgar, his wife, Frances M. and daughters, Olive and Marie were listed as living with them. Additionlly, another son, Martin, his wife, Emma J. and daughter, Mildred were listed as living with them.14

     Susan and Isaac appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Bayside, Queens, New York, enumerated 20 January 1920. Isaac was working as a farmer. Their children, Frank Edgar were listed as living with them.15

     Susan Ann Raynor, (Mengi) appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Douglaston, Queens, New York in the household of her daughter, Margaret and her husband, Frederick D. Stuart.16

MRS. SUSAN VAN DYKE

Mrs. Susan Van Dyke, widow of Isaac Van Dyke, died yesterday at her home, 37 Pine Street, Douglaston. She was 88. She and her husband were decendants of the original settlers of Long Island. Mr. Van Dyke was the owner of a large farm in Flushing, where he introduced many innovations that made farming and market gardening profitable a half century ago. Mrs. Van Dyke is survived by six sons and a daughter: William of Freehold, N.J; Martin of Manhasset; Thomas of Hollis; Albert of Flushing; Isaac of Douglaston; Frank of Flushing; and Mrs. Margaret Stuart of Douglaston.4
