     Elijah and Mary appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 19 August 1870. Elijah was working as a fisherman. His real estate valued at $500.00. Their children, Stephen Eldert, Caroline, Lawrence and John were listed as living with them.9

     Elijah and Mary appeared on the 1875 New York Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated June 1875. The census indicated Elijah's home was frame and his real estate valued at $1000.00. They had William Lang, age 54 in the home. Their children, Caroline, John and Lawrence were listed as living with them.10
